One of favorite places to visit in San Diego is Balboa Park. It was one of the first places that we discovered almost two years ago when we moved out here. We find ourselves here a few times a month and there is also something new going on. The park itself celebrated it’s 100 year anniversary last year. Balboa Park has over sixteen museums, home to the San Diego Zoo, and miles of trails.
There is so much to see in the park. Every Sunday at 2pm there is an Organ Concert in the outdoor pavilion, plus on Fridays till the end of September they have Food Truck Fridays! There are three theaters, which almost always have a show going on. We usually find ourselves visiting the art museum and photography museum most often. Plus no trip to Balboa Park is complete without a stop at Panama 66 for a craft beer or cocktail, not to mention their food is amazing!
When we are having a slow weekend we usually visit the San Diego Zoo. They have a two year old gorilla that we visit pretty often, its fun being able to see how much he has grown. The zoo is also in the middle of doing an addition which they are coming to the end of soon, we are both excited to see the new exhibits they have been working on. The zoo is adding a lemur exhibit, which I’m most excited for! It’s a great way to get outside for several hours and enjoy the lovely weather that San Diego has to offer.
