Piazza del Plebiscito

Happy Tuesday, this past weekend Josh and I made our first trek out to the Naples town center. We both are so excited to start being able to explore this city after being cooped up in our hotel all week. For our first trek out, we visited the Centro Storico, or historic center, which was nice for our first visit. It’s a bit more touristy, but there are a lot of museums, as well as fantastic little resteraunts. We walked around for a little while around all the shops in the area, followed by some pizza and gelato, of course! There’s a lot of things to do in this area, which is great if you want to spend a whole day out in this without having to take transit from one neighborhood to the next. There’s so much to do between shopping, visiting the castles, walking along the water, and all the eateries. It’s a great place to get acclimated to the area.

Before we left the States, I knew that I needed to pick up a new pair of walking shoes. I’ve had my eye on a pair of Adidas for a while now. I just never got around to picking up a pair. So when we were in Tennessee we happened to see that Off Broadway Shoes (a store similar to DSW) was having BOGO 50%, therefore Josh and I knew it was the perfect time for each of to get a new pair of shoes. We both love a great sale and both walked out the a pair of Adidas. We opted for the Originals with the Cloudfoam and I couldn’t be more in love with these shoes. While we were out in town we ended up walking almost seven miles and my feet didn’t start hurting until we were almost back at the bus!

After getting some lunch, we walked over to Piazza del Plebiscito. We were originally going to look at the church, the Chiesa di San Francisco di Paola(which you can see in the background of the picture above), however they we’re closed on this particular day. So instead we walked across the plaza to the Royal Palace of Naples, which is so beautiful. You can walk around what used to the Royal Apartments. This was the first European Museum that we have been into, so seeing rooms like these is one big reason why Josh and I moved here. If you don’t know Josh and I both attend art school, therefore we spent way to much time learning about art history and studying places such as the Royal Place.
