Summer in Seersucker

Happy weekend! Josh and I have been taking things a little slow these past two weeks. After living out of suitcases for three months followed by unpacking for almost two weeks, it’s nice to not have a schedule. (There has also been lots of Fortnite being played over here too. 😂) We have been taking some time and exploring our new neighborhood and Josh is settling into his new work schedule. One thing that has been hard for us is adjusting back to living with humidity. I know this sounds crazy, but there is almost no humidity in San Diego where we were living for almost three years. We got so spoiled, however we did both grow up in Tennessee so we know all about those crazy hot/humid summer days. Which we have since found out are a pretty common thing here in Naples. We are lucky enough to live pretty close to the Sea, therefore we have a nice breeze that helps to keep it a bit cooler.

Because it’s been so warm these past few weeks, I’ve been wearing a lot more dresses than I normally do. I have always had a small dress collection in my closet, I just never wore them all that often. So I have been making more of point to wear them on these hotter days. Because we are in the middle of summer, there is nothing better than a seersucker dress! I have been on a rotation of stripes, florals, and solids these past few weeks. One thing that I have noticed about Naples is that most people don’t wear shorts, which is so common back in the States. So I’ve been trying to fit in with the local fashion as well.

I picked this dress up last summer during a sale. This is my first seersucker patterned clothing that I have picked up. It’s such a great pattern for all those July activities, but it’s also great to transition into early fall. While Gap doesn’t have this particular dress for sale anymore, Nordstrom has some great similar dresses such as these Draper James, J.Crew, or Eliza J.
