To soak up the last bit of summer here in Italy, Josh and I decided to make the short trip to Ischia for a relaxing weekend. Ischia is a small Island off the coast of Naples, north of the Amalfi Coast. Since moving out to Naples, I have talked so much about visiting Positano. However, Josh and I were planning a bit of last minute trip, therefore it made more sense to hold off visiting the Amalfi Coast and instead visit Ischia. We have heard so many great things from everyone that lives in Naples about Ischia. After visiting ourselves, we understand why.
The island of Ischia is quite big and there’s loads to explore throughout. Josh and I decided that we wanted this trip to be more of relaxing trip and not to do much exploring while on the island. After our last few trips being full of explore all day long, so we opted for a more relaxing trip this time. After all we were taking this trip to spend our days next to the beach, which we did! Sant’ Angelo, which is on the south side of the island is great if you want to spend all day next to the water. After spending most of the day at the beach we sipped on Aperol Spritz at a bar which overlooks the sea. In Sant’ Angelo there are so many great little bars or restaurants that over look the sea so you can see catch those great sunsets while sipping on a cocktail.
Ischia as a whole as so much more to offer than what we visited on Sant’ Angelo. You can spend your day at Poseidon a thermal hot spring, hike the many trails in the center of the island, or take a trip to the medial castle of Aragonese. Of course you can spend your days visiting the beautiful beaches that surround the island as well. The great thing about Ischia is that it is only an hour long ferry ride from Naples, which is great for us when we want to spend a weekend away. The views of this little town are amazing and we are ready to go spend another weekend in this quaint little area.
